Allanson, Martin - MET Academy Ltd
thumbnail Welcome to MET Academy Whether you’re looking for a career as a performer or simply enjoy meeting new friends and challenging yourself in a creative environment, MET academy is the place for you. The academy will open its doors in January 2010 for 7-18 year olds and will be teaching lessons in acting, singing and movement by professional performers. Each term you will also work with stars of the stage, television and film who will give advice, insights into the profession and secrets to success! We are a group of actors and close friends who live in North London. We have set up MET Academy because we believe theatre training can provide lessons for life as well as the stage. Ellie trained at Guildford School of Acting and Martin and Tom trained at Central School of Speech and Drama all graduating last summer with degrees in Acting. Since leaving, they have worked in Theatre, TV and Film and hope that, through MET Academy, they can pass on their skills and passion. Our mission is to be the number one choice in youth theatre training, providing young artists with the structure, support and tools to develop as performers and people. Through a combination of industry connections, passion and fun, we aim to provide every student with a unique and stimulating experience in a safe and comfortable environment.

thumbnail ADANTA, a London based African theatre company, exists to explore and express an idea through dance, which reflects its African roots, society and way of life. Its philosophy is to create innovative work by using sources rooted in traditional African culture and to communicate the diversity of dance vocabulary within the continent to its wide range of audience. ADANTA’s work is aimed specifically at enabling the audience to experience the beauty and energy that African dance can generate. We work to achieve this through public performances, interactive workshop programs, lectures, residencies and appearances in issue-based events.

Bamidele, Sosimi
Dele Sosimi has a faultless Afrobeat pedigree, beginning with his seven and a half years in Fela Kuti's Egypt 80 band (1979-1986) touring all over Europe and the USA, recording on Fela's albums 'Army Arrangement' and 'ITT' amongst others. Later, teaming up with Fela's son Femi to put together Positive Force in 1986 with roles as the keyboardist and musical director for 9 years, recording and producing two albums, 'No Cause For Alarm' and 'Mind Your Own Business'. Moving to London in 1995 and forming a new group has resulted in projects reflecting London's multicultural environment, with a strong influence of jazz and shades of deep funk and latin music, but all underpinned by the heavy grooves of afrobeat's Yoruba rhythms with Dele's vocals very strongly in the afrobeat tradition. The result is the next phase of Afrobeat, at a time when little else in the genre appears to be extending the horizons. Dele Sosimi is the Afrobeat Ambassador in London and aims to continue to encourage and teach up and coming musicians this genre of music please visit the website for more details.

Geddes, Ilaria
thumbnail Dance teacher, performer and choreographer of street, jazz and contemporary fusion with a focus on working with hard rock, punk and heavy metal music, integrating rock movement material and iconography in dance work. The concept of my work and teaching is based on rock's loss of self-consciousness in movement expression, and sparks from using an individual's movement when 'pretending to play air guitar to loud music locked in your bedroom' as the basis for movement creation and unbiased expression free of external prejudices and judgement. My web site www.hardrockdance.net is meant as an information and communication tool for dancers with an interest in using rock music in the practice and performance.
