Aloke, Rose
thumbnail ADANTA, a London based African theatre company, exists to explore and express an idea through dance, which reflects its African roots, society and way of life. Its philosophy is to create innovative work by using sources rooted in traditional African culture and to communicate the diversity of dance vocabulary within the continent to its wide range of audience. ADANTA’s work is aimed specifically at enabling the audience to experience the beauty and energy that African dance can generate. We work to achieve this through public performances, interactive workshop programs, lectures, residencies and appearances in issue-based events.

Angolan Community
Angolan Community in London aims to support its community in the UK. It started a while back in Kensington & Chelsea after the occupance of some serious cases in various areas which affect the civil and criminal lives of people. We decided to set up a group that would help assist victims and if possible prevent further discrimination. The group is based locally and operates in West London, but we do occasionally get clients from the rest of London and other parts of the community. Therefore we encourage all sources of people to participate and bring their skills.
Art with Heart
We are a group of friends who hold a 3 day creative event each season, in a great location and venue, on Portobello road at the very heart of Notting Hill. We use the 20th century theatre to exhibit and sell our creations and some of us make performances ( music, dance, song etc.) in the evenings on the stage. People who attend the event get a chance to make their own piece of art too! Our intention is to value and promote creativity both in ourselves and our audience. Creativity brings fun and good feelings that gradually melt away the difficulties in life. We believe that by inspiring creativity in all walks of life - we are making a vital difference to every-ones lives. We value our creativity through the enjoyment we find in doing it! This is more important than skill or reputation but actually when we are on a path where we focus on doing what we love to do, we become skillful in a natural-unforced and best of all enjoyable way! As a group of friends we share the responsibility and opportunity of creating the extravaganza itself, by collectively hiring the theatre, and in the simple ways we promote the event.

Bamidele, Sosimi
Dele Sosimi has a faultless Afrobeat pedigree, beginning with his seven and a half years in Fela Kuti's Egypt 80 band (1979-1986) touring all over Europe and the USA, recording on Fela's albums 'Army Arrangement' and 'ITT' amongst others. Later, teaming up with Fela's son Femi to put together Positive Force in 1986 with roles as the keyboardist and musical director for 9 years, recording and producing two albums, 'No Cause For Alarm' and 'Mind Your Own Business'. Moving to London in 1995 and forming a new group has resulted in projects reflecting London's multicultural environment, with a strong influence of jazz and shades of deep funk and latin music, but all underpinned by the heavy grooves of afrobeat's Yoruba rhythms with Dele's vocals very strongly in the afrobeat tradition. The result is the next phase of Afrobeat, at a time when little else in the genre appears to be extending the horizons. Dele Sosimi is the Afrobeat Ambassador in London and aims to continue to encourage and teach up and coming musicians this genre of music please visit the website for more details.

Black British Heritage
Black British Heritage aims to work to raise the awareness of the whole community to the contributions made by Black people to Britain and British Society. A portion of our vision is to establish a centre where all members of the community can view images of the British Heritage of Black people and acquire information. To highlight the heritage accumulated by Black people over hundreds of years through contact with Britain, and work closely with schools and the whole community. Bring a better understanding about the bonded history of Britain and the Black Community, encourage schools to look favourably on and support the subject of positive Black history as an extra curricular study. Show how the careers of past and contemporary Black people are relevant as role models for young people today. Research the contributions made by past and contemporary Black people.
